How to Care for your Siberian Pearl Kitten!

Feeding Your Kitten

Caring for your new kitten involves a holistic approach, starting with a diet that mirrors their natural needs. We proudly feed our kittens a homemade raw chicken diet, developed with guidance from Dr. Fern Slack of Uniquely Cats. This diet is designed to be close to what a cat would naturally consume, and we encourage you to watch our instructional video ( video is coming). In addition to their raw meals, kittens can enjoy human-grade canned fish packed in water – salmon, tuna, or sardines – as a healthy supplement.

You will need to process the raw chicken and bones, we highly recommend purchasing the below grinder.

9 lbs of either Whole Foods or Red Bird chicken thighs (Bone in/Skin on)
12 oz of organ meat (usually chicken liver but sometimes hearts and gizzards)
3 1/2 cups of water
2 heaping teaspoons of Taurine Powder
3 Teaspoons of Morton's Lite Salt (make sure this contains iodide)
6,000 mg Omega-3 Liquid (i.e - 3 pumps or 6 ml)
3 caps of B-complex 100 (I open the caps so the veggie cap doesn't get used)
3 caps of Dry Vit E-400 (make sure it is d-tocopherol and Not dl)
1 tablespoon of Ocean Kelp(we add it by ourself)

Remove 75% of the skin and 20-30% of the bone. Grind the thighs and send the liver through the grinder as well. Then make a supplement slurry by adding vitamin B-complex, vitamin E, fish oil, taurine,Ocean Kelp and iodized lite salt (if using poultry thighs) to water. Add the slurry to the ground meat, package it in small containers, and freeze what will not be used within 3 days. We feed our 3 months old kittens 4 time a day with 1 tablespoon of meet. Kittens 5months old and older can have 3 times a day meal with 2 table spoons of meet. Please give your kitten as much food as he wants. Siberian are big cats and need a lot of food when they grow.

How To Keep Your Kittens Teeth Healthy
Picture
To help keep your kitten's gums clean and teeth free of plaque, we recommend three methods.

Firstly, offer raw beef stew meat, cut into pieces large enough for your kitten to chew but not swallow whole. The effort required to chew this tough meat naturally cleans their teeth. If beef isn't a hit, raw chicken heart or stomach, similarly portioned, can be a good alternative.

Secondly, if your kitten isn't keen on raw chews, regular tooth brushing will be necessary; many helpful tutorials can be found on YouTube. However, please refrain from brushing your kitten's teeth when they are losing their baby teeth (typically 12 weeks to 6 months of age), as their gums are very sensitive during this period of transition to 30 adult teeth.

Thirdly, if other methods are unsuccessful or impractical, use a professional dental cleaning under anesthesia. Please ask your vet to choose an anesthesia option that is easy on your cats heart.

How To Groom Your Kitten

Starting to groom your kitten young will ensure your kitten enjoys and isn't stressed by regular grooming. We suggest starting by combing your kittens fur, every two or three days. By not starting young combing your kitten, you may end up with a large cat who hates to be groomed and requires a professional groomer.

If your cat gets burrs or knotted hair that need to be trimmed away, be sure to place a steel toothed comb behind the tangle protecting the skin from the scissors. We use a grooming vacuum to capture all of the hair in our grooming process.  However, you can use a clipper to cut off burrs or knotted hair.

We recommend trimming your kittens claws every 6 weeks to keep your cat comfortable and protect your home. We suggest putting several scratching posts around your home to encourage acceptable scratching habits.

Please keep in mind our contract specifies that you can't de-claw your kitten. Your kittens hearing is so sensitive that placing a bell on your cat's collar can cause damage to their hearing. Keep your kitten safe and healthy by remembering to not use a bell on their collar.

Kitten Playtime & Introducing to Your Other Pets
When it comes to playtime, safety is key. Keep in mind your kittens can easily eat things they shouldn't. We recommend avoiding toys with real or artifical feathers as they can cause severe intestinal damage. Be vigilant about securing earplugs, as they are a surprising hazard for curious kittens.

Finally, introducing your new kitten to existing pets requires patience and a structured approach:
  1. First day, allow your kitten to settle into a single designated room.
  2. Second day, move your existing pet into that room and let the new kitten explore the entire house.
  3. Three, if your kitten appears comfortable in their new environment, you can begin supervised introductions to your dog or other cats.
